Our Services
Giving children a voice in court.
Family Law CASA of King County is a non-profit organization that helps children in high-risk, contentious custody cases live in a safer, more nurturing environment. No one else in King County provides this level of service to low and moderate income children with trained volunteer court appointed advocates (CASAs).
In custody cases involving allegations of substance abuse, domestic violence or mental health issues, parents are often unable to focus on the needs of their children, and many of these children are so young they cannot speak for themselves. CASAs can give these children a voice in court by focusing on the needs of the child and striving to strengthen parenting skills and family relationships. Family Law CASA staff and its CASA volunteers are dedicated to providing comprehensive, unbiased information to Family Law Commissioners and Judges, enabling the best possible custody decisions for the child.
Over the past six years, Family Law CASA and its CASA volunteers have advocated at no charge for over 700 children involved in Family Court custody cases. Half of the children served were under age five. The typical family has allegations of substance abuse, domestic violence or mental health issues. All families are low to moderate income.
